Project Description:
The goal of the CROMA research project goes far beyond the current usage of empirical indices for EO applications in agriculture: it promotes the concept of advanced and generic crop reflectance models, coupled with crop customisation mechanisms, to generate biophysical maps of crop fields, and analyses the further incorporation of remote sensing information into agronomic and crop simulation models, developing the appropriate calibrations and forcing methods. The crop case that will be addressed as illustration is maize crop, including the definition and prototyping of recommendation products that can demonstrate immediate and measurable benefit of operational EO applications. In order to meet this goal, the project team brings together the forces of experts and recognised specialists in the different domains, both in science and applied agronomic research, with those of major remote sensing actors.
