In May 2001, The Plant Industrial Platform published a position paper in support of the development of the sixth Framework Programme. The paper describes and recommends important areas of research in plant sciences.

Similar to PIP's assistance to research co-ordinators during FP5 (see below), the platform expects to take on a similar role in FP6 research projects. During the sixth Framework Programme it will be even more important for project partners to interact with an external user platform, organise PR and communicate with interest groups. The Platform will contact prospective co-ordinators to discuss such activities, but it is also possible to contact the secretariat:

The Plant Industrial Platform assists a number of FP5 project co-ordinators with their dissemination tasks of project results, the organisation of meetings or with contacts to specific users of technology. Communication of project objectives an public interim results to outside circles form a demonstrable result of some of the project management tasks. PIP appreciates a durable relation with FP5 co-ordinators and therefore offers this communication channel to foster contacts between researchers and user groups.

This document describes how and why project coordinators have found it useful to subcontract the Plant Industrial Platform for such tasks.

Information on funded research

It can be quite time consuming to find information on EU funded research programmes in plant sciences. Therefore we have taken the time and trouble to compile a catalogue of selected FP5 research projects. Detailed information on objectives and progress reports have been made available to PIP members.
